Today was Kyle's one year doctor visit. He's 22.14 lbs and 30". The doctor is very happy with his growth and development and mentioned that he was starting to show a sunny personality. Some of the things he has achieved by a year:
- he can stack two blocks and is working on three
- he can take out and put in, and put on top of (as in tables)
- he's walking independently more and more
- he's putting less in his mouth
- he's drinking out of straw cups and sippy cups and has transitioned away from formula
- he's no longer drinking milk at night and is sleeping a bit longer many nights
- he can understand far more language than he can express
- he can follow simple directions such as "let go of that, Kyle" and "turn off the light"
- he can wave bye bye
- his first word was "uh-oh", though he's dropped that for now. We think he's also saying "mama", "dada", "bye-bye"
- he climbs up stairs
- he slides off the bed or a chair/couch backwards, on his tummy
- he plays peek-a-boo
- and I'm sure many other things that aren't coming to mind right now
The local ice cream stand opened today and we went tonight as a bid for spring. There is something quite peaceful watching children eat ice cream. Eric also said his first (I think) spontaneous prayer before eating his ice cream: "Dear Jesus, thank you for ice cream. Amen." Delightful.
