We took last week off (the week of Memorial Day) to potty train Eric. We also did other things, but that was the driving force. We brought out the underware and pullups, and put the diapers away in Kyle's closet. Eric got to decorate his potty chair and we had various rewards for accomplishment -- 2 M&Ms for trying when we told him to, 5 M&Ms for succeeding in going potty. For the first 4 times he emptied his bladder, he got videos (Thomas, Fireman Sam, etc); the fifth video was reserved for when he anticipated needing to go and actually emptied his bladder. The last reward was a trip to the ice cream stand for successfully pooping in the potty.
He earned the first 4 videos -- 1 on Sat, 3 on Sun, 1 on Mon. The last video took until this past weekend. He earned a trip to the ice cream stand on Monday after pooping at Grace's. This was a great milestone because he didn't poop for an entire week and it became obvious that he was impacted and uncomfortable. I think he was just uncertain how to get his muscles to work and possibly a little afraid of disappointing us by pooping in his pullup or underware. Prunes, raisins, and Mirilax later, and things began to soften enough so he wasn't in pain pushing it out.
He wears underware when we're around the house, but pullups for nap, nighttime, and at Grace's (by her request, at least for a month or two). He's starting to anticipate more, and is learning to hold it until he can go, or at least not just leak any time.
I expect him to be in underware full time except at night by the end of the summer.
